B complex vitamins, including vitamin B1, are a group of water-soluble vitamins that are typically excreted by the body when consumed in excess and must be replenished daily.
Following weight loss surgery, patients are at a higher risk of micronutrient deficiencies due to nutrient malabsorption and lower nutrient intake with smaller meals. Bariatric multivitamins with B vitamins are recommended after bariatric surgery to help prevent nutrient deficiencies. In some cases, additional vitamin B1 (thiamine) is recommended to support ongoing health.*
